Join us for a fun and inspiring 4-week summer program designed for kids ages 8–14 who want to explore the world of DJing! Each week, students will dive into hands-on lessons in mixing, beatmatching, scratching, and live performance — all in a supportive, high-energy environment. No experience needed. Just bring your love of music and get ready to rock the decks!

PROGRAM TITLE:
DJ STARS SUMMER ACADEMY
“Where Young Creators Learn to Mix, Scratch, and Shine”

AGE GROUP: 8–14
DURATION: 4 Weeks
SESSION LENGTH: 2 Hours per Week
GOAL: Introduce kids to the art of DJing with hands-on experience in mixing, scratching, beatmatching, and performing a live set.

WEEK 1 – INTRO TO DJING & GEAR BASICS

Theme: “Welcome to the World of DJs”

Objectives:

  • Understand what a DJ is and what they do

  • Learn about different types of DJs and music styles

  • Get familiar with the equipment

Activities:

  • Icebreaker: Name That Tune

  • DJ Equipment Overview: Turntables, Controllers, Mixer, Headphones

  • Hands-on Practice: Basic Cueing and Play/Pause Techniques

  • Group Challenge: Build a 3-song playlist

  • Homework: Bring 3 favorite songs for Week 2

WEEK 2 – BEATMATCHING & BLENDING

Theme: “Feel the Beat”

Objectives:

  • Learn tempo and BPM

  • Understand beatmatching and syncing tracks

  • Practice smooth transitions between songs

Activities:

  • Rhythm Games: Clapping to BPM

  • Demonstration: Manual Beatmatching vs. Sync Button

  • Hands-on Practice: Mix 2 tracks with similar BPMs

  • Pair Work: Create a short blended mix

  • Homework: Identify songs that would mix well together

WEEK 3 – SCRATCHING & PERFORMANCE SKILLS

Theme: “Scratch & Style”

Objectives:

  • Explore basic scratch techniques

  • Develop timing and creativity in DJing

  • Learn basic mic skills and crowd engagement

Activities:

  • Scratch Lab: Baby Scratch, Transformer

  • DJ Performance Warm-ups (timing & rhythm)

  • Mic Confidence Drills: Introduce yourself like a DJ

  • Practice Session: Mix, scratch, and talk

  • Homework: Plan a 5-minute live DJ routine

WEEK 4 – FINAL MIX SHOWCASE

Theme: “Rock the Decks!”

Objectives:

  • Combine all skills into a short DJ performance

  • Practice stage presence and performance

  • Celebrate with friends and family

Activities:

  • Rehearsal: Final Run-through of Each Kid’s Set

  • Setup for DJ Showcase: Lights, Mic, DJ Booth

  • Live Showcase: Each child performs a 3–5 minute set

  • Certificate Ceremony & Photos

  • Optional: Record and share their sets online
